​BruIPO hosted the Arise+ IPR Seminar on Geographical Indications (GIs) in collaboration with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) this morning at the D&T Building, Anggerek Desa. The seminar was attended by approximately 60 participants comprising of representatives from the industry and business sectors, as well as relevant government departments, ministries and other stakeholders.  

Mr Denis Sautier, Senior Agri-Food Economist from CIRAD, France provided the audience with an overview of the GI system and how it complements with other IP rights; whilst BruIPO presented on the current system for the protection of GIs as collective or certification marks.  The seminar ended with Q&A session moderated by the Head of BruIPO.
