Consultation Meeeting on the Development of a Geographical Indication (GI) System in Brunei Darussalam

​BruIPO hosted a Consultation Meeting on the Development of a Geographical Indication (GI) System in Brunei Darussalam this morning at the Design & Technology Building, Anggerek Desa. The Consultation Meeting was facilitated by Mr. Tiago Guerreiro, Project Leader and Ms. Jennifer Laygo from the IP Key SEA team based in Bangkok.

The meeting brought together officials from BruIPO and relevant agencies namely Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA), Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) to discuss, among others, options for setting up a GI system and way forward for the development of a GI system in Brunei.

In the afternoon, the IP KEY SEA officials paid a courtesy call on Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary (Industry) at the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry in his capacity as Registrar of Patents, Trade Marks, Industrial Designs and Plant Varieties Protection. The IP KEY South East Asia (SEA) is a European Union (EU) funded project and is implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
