THE PATENT COOPERATION TREATY (PCT)
In 2012, Brunei Darussalam became a member of Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), therefore allowing protection of a patent in multiple countries by filing an international application via The PCT System route. It is also administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized agency of the United Nations.
The PCT System is a one-stop solution for registering and managing patent in different countries all at once.
By filing one application, in one language with one set of fees, patent owners can see protection in more than 150 countries.
The patent owners may visit www.wipo.int/pct/en or contact Brunei Intellectual Property Office to find out on how to protect the patent internationally.
